A Bullwhip is an impact toy intended for intermediate, and advanced users. Seriously, if you don’t know what you’re doing, don’t use it on anyone.
Moving on, here is the basic anatomy of a bullwhip: the handle attaches to the lash, which attaches to the fall, which attaches to the cracker — the piece of string at the end. Most crackers are replaceable, some falls are replaceable. The cracker is easier to replace – the thong will need to be rebraided, or replaced.
Like floggers, a bullwhip is an excellent impact toy choice for an experienced Dominant, and the sound of the whip moving through the air creates a slight sense of panic in the submissive right before impact, which the Dominant may enjoy.
It takes hours of practice required to get the basics down to properly use a bullwhip. Be prepared for calluses and blisters. The single-tail whip has a sharp learning curve, if you’ve got patience and persistence. And like I said in the beginning, DON’T USE THIS on anyone until you’ve got a decent amount of skill under your belt.
If you buy a quality bullwhip, and depending on how the whip is used, cleaned and stored, it can last a lifetime.
A note about cleaning a bullwhip: Your whip is made of leather so you should be careful to keep it clean and dry. A whip’s worst enemy is dirt and moisture. Dirt can rub and erode the leather, and moisture can cause it to stretch, shrink, kink and mildew.
DO NOT USE OILS ON YOUR WHIPS. It will weaken and eventually break down the leather.
Are bullwhips part of your toy bag? What do you think of them? I’d love to hear about it. Let me know in the comments.
I am glad I found your site and was interested in this article as my dom is working on his bullwhip skills. I grew up using them on the ranch and believe me, you get good quick because if you ever accidently hit your horse herding cattle and get dumped you won’t do it again. We never hit the animals with the whip on purpose, just a flick, noise, and air close to them. He is working on accuracy to not actually hit me, but flick, crack, and a good sharp feeling of air. I enjoy crops, horse hair whip, floggers etc, on my skin, but never would want a bullwhip actually hit me as we are not into blood play. As good as you can get with one, I don’t think you have quite the control when making contact as you would with more manageable whips.
We have a kangaroo bullwhip, made by a master whip maker in Australia and oddly enough, I used it hiking as I didn’t want to carry a gun and needed something substantial to scare off local mountain lions encountered on back country hikes.. Yeah, we are bit outback. But it is fun watching my Sir practice his skills. Of course, goes without saying, you need a lot of room to use it correctly.
Just at this point, my trust level in his new skill is not quite where it needs to be, but will be soon. Fun and games with my Sir. We are 24/7 D/s and BDSM, married 34 years. Still going strong!
For longer whips these are the trifecta of choices: bullwhip (short handle) , stockman whip (longer handle), and blacksnake (no handle). They are thing of beauty. Been weilding one since I was about 7 years old. I never top. Ever. And no desire. But sheer joy wathcing my Sir learn this skill.
Awesome to know that you two are getting your Indiana Jones on. Good luck to the both of you, and thanks for reading!
