Sex Toy Shops You Probably Need to Check Out

I will fully admit, I love going to sex toy shops. Besides being in a dungeon, they’re one of the few places in the world that I feel normal.

In my travels, I’ve found a lot of shops – some good, some bad. But there have been more than a few that I found to be absolutely amazing, and/or became special to me for one reason or another.

If you’ve ever chatted with me, you know that I’m a pretty private person, keeping things close to my chest. However, I’ve decided to share a few of my favourite sex toy shops with you that I think you should probably visit sometime. And because new sex toy shops open all the bloody time, I’ll likely make a new list in the future.

With all this said, let’s get started!

Pleasure Chest – USA

With five locations throughout the United States, which includes stores in New York City, Los Angeles and Chicago, The Pleasure Chest has made quite a name for themselves as far as sex toy shops go.

I’ve visited the NYC locations and one of the Chicago locations. The stores both had a really classy look to them you’ll notice as soon as you walk in, and staff was helpful and friendly in both locations. So even if you’re a newbie, you won’t feel awkward at all.

Some locations may not have everything that you’re looking for. But no worries, you can check out their website – which has a LOT more than the retail shops – at www.pleasurechest.com.

Taboo Tabou – Chicago, IL USA

Located in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood since 1988, Owner Alexis Thomas’ Taboo Tabou is a shop in Chicago that specialises in lingerie and sex toys.

The staff is pretty knowledgeable about the items they sell, which includes lingerie, pin-up inspired clothing, bondage and fetish gear, and a lot more. They also have a lot of really nice handmade and one-of-a-kind items that are only available in their store — which you should definitely check out if you’re ever in the area.

You can check out Taboo Tabou’s website at www.tabootabou.com.

Lover’s Lane – USA

Located primarily in the Midwest, Lover’s Lane is one of those sex toy shops that are really good for newbies to BDSM or kink in general.

I’ve visited several locations throughout Chicago, and have found that most of them don’t carry much that would do more than tickle more serious players, but some locations do sometimes have items that may indeed surprise you.

The Lover’s Lane website seems to have slightly more than you’d find in their retail shops. You can visit the website at www.loverslane.com.

Adam & Eve – USA

Like Lover’s Lane, North Carlolina-based Adam and Eve is a really good sex toy shop for kinky newbies. The company sells just about any sex toy that you can think of – dildos, bondage, vibrators, cock rings, lingerie, lubes, oils and more.

With over sixty locations throughout the United States and Canada, you might want to have a visit if you’re nearby. If you don’t live near one of their retail locations, you can always check out the Adam and Eve website at www.adameve.com.

The Stockroom – Los Angeles, California, USA

I have no other way to say this – I LOVE this shop. The Stockroom is one of the oldest online sex toy shops in the world, and was honestly created with the BDSM community fully kept in mind.

From floggers to rope to chastity belts, this shop has more products than I can list. The Stockroom should be one of the first shops, if not THE first shop you should check out. Believe me, you won’t be disappointed.

If you’re not able to visit their shop in LA (which is likely because they’ve only one shop), they pretty much have everything (and more) on their website at www.stockroom.com

Coco De Mer – London, England, UK

Coco de Mer is by far one of the classiest sex toy shops I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting. I’ve visited their shop in London, and it looked sophisticated as hell — and I would have expected nothing less.

Coco de Mer sells some REALLY nice toys in their shop, vibrators, rulers, cuffs, floggers and more. Easily the most expensive sex toy shop on this list, most people would likely feel like they immediately can’t afford anything they offer. Seriously, I felt like I needed to sell a kidney just to walk into their doors.

But if you can easily afford anything — then we need to hang out.

You can check out the Coco De Mer website at www.coco-de-mer.com.

LoveHoney – Online

Ah yes, “the sexual happiness people.” Even though it’s not a brick and mortar location, Lovehoney is still a great place to shop, which is why they’re on my list of sex toy shops. They carry a ton of branded toys, as well as others.

You can visit the LoveHoney website at www.lovehoney.com.

So what do you think of my list? Have you visited any of the sex toy shops that I mentioned? If so, leave a comment. I’d love to hear about your experiences! I also mention more shops in my book, Welcome to the Darkside: A BDSM Primer. You should check it out!
